Dear potential cast:

Thanks to responding to a web site listing or an ad in Westword regarding a film production and a summer camping party. Thanks for your response. This is an amateur production that we hope will be accepted in film festivals, cable tv or the like. There are seven of us seriously involved thus far as filmers, producers, editors, etc. We collectively have four digital cameras, including a Canon XL1 & GL1. We still need sound & lighting people, legal advice, & digital editors.

The film is in no way sponsored by or connected to the US Census Bureau. However, one of the scenes I may want you in involves simulating the work of a Census enumerator or respondent. Additional scenes may involve sub-plots that we have or that you design. You will have the opportunity to act in straight roles, singing, dancing, or other talents you have. If you've felt limited by defined scripts or plays in the past, here's a chance to design your own creative role. This is an option you will rarely be offered, but if you prefer, I'll give you a script. All participants will be given credit at the end of the film. Again, your participation is voluntary but very much desired.

There is also a mountain camping party that you & friends will be invited to if interested. There will be filming of specific scenes and random moments throughout the party. Parallels will be drawn from the personal questions on the long census and random conversations at a party. You are encouraged to be in the film even if you won't attend the party. The enclosed flyer will spell out the details.

MEETING: If you would like to participate as a census worker or respondent, please contact me with an available time. Arrangements can be made to film you at your home or in my neighborhood (near Federal & Speer). Dress normal - save extravagant clothes for the parrrrtay! If you won't make the summer mountain party you'll portray the respondents.
