The roads leading to the lodge are dirt. West one mile is Wellington Lake. East 1/2 mile is the crossing of the Colorado Trail. It further crosses the roads into the lodge at least one more time before hitting the highway, lending itself to big circular trips. Shorter loops from the lodge include Green Mountain, off the Colorado Trail, and Gashouse Gulch. You can actually take mountain bike trails all the way into Pine or Buffalo Creek for some grub at Elk Creek Station or the Trout River Grill.
